Save Centennial Park, Downtown Fort Myers, FL Throughout the nation, the National Parks Service has begun to sell off “excess” preserve land, removing this land from public access and placing it in the hands of private development. Friends of the Riverfront, a coalition of private citizens and public interest organizations from Fort Myers, FL, have hired an attorney to stop the conversion of Centennial Park property from public space to private development. This community park is home to numerous festivals and gatherings from art and music to farmers markets and the Edison Festival of Lights picnic.
